empty pods

Never ever had this before.

Aquadulce broad beans with long succulent looking pods but not a single bean in them  :(

At least six pods like this today  :tongue2:

Different variety but about 20% of my pods have been empty this year, ijust put it down to the weather 8)

This year, for the 1st time, i did pick some small pods to eat whole and lovely they were too!

Someone on our site suggested it was this that was making the later full size pods barren. Can't believe that?

I grew the same variety as you and have had the same thing big nice looking pods with ether one or no beans in. A big disappointment as I lost all of my autumn sown ones so repeated this year for a rubbish crop. I sowed 100 odd seeds to get around a pound of broad beans :(  to compensate I have had around 20lb of sugar snap beans :)

At least you all have something for the compost heap for your labours with the empty pods and the left over plants though
