I grew my broad beans about a foot away from my runners.  The runners are very slow this year but are nonetheless starting to climb.  However, the broads have done so well, the runner beans are ignoring their poles and instead climbing up the stems of the broad beans.  I'm going to have endless fun today untangling them and then tying them round their poles  >:(

Hmm, I'm off to do a bit of untangling now.  I'm gonna have a whale of a time.  Let me guess m1ckz, you've got massive big juicy plump tomatoes as well have you?  I'm not expecting any until about August!  :tongue2:
