We are looking to hatch some ducklings but are still debating on which breed.

We want a very friendly breed so are hovering between Appleyard's and an Aylesbury's can any help us decide please?

Of all my ducks the Aylesbury drakes are the friendliest, however this is because they were hand raised by me and now love a cuddle and sitting on laps. Of my girls my Appleyard has the most docile nature, my two Kate & her Ducks Cayuga crosses are the cheekiest and my Runner the funniest to watch! If you are self hatching most breeds will become hand tame and friendly for you

Handle them frequently from babies and I think most breeds will be friendly.  Personally I find my Apricot Crested are the easiest to tame, most intelligent and least hysterical of all the ducks I have kept over the years.  I keep them for slug control in the garden, and they are sooooo pretty and interesting to have around

I have decided on hatching Appleyards, am going to handle them a lot so fingers crossed they become friendly

I think Appleyards is a very good choice - but I am biased!
