My lottie is surrounded by a wood chip path. Seems to be doing the trick.

I have just bought what could be the answer to my problems. It's called "Slug Stoppa Granules" and at only £1.49 at Home and Bargain !   :D

Seriously,  I have some of this myself but have not used it yet.  I will be awaiting your report of its successfulness.

There's quite a number of other methods on that link to try too.

Yes, I find the coffee granules work well with crushed eggshells but I never have enough. I might mix all 3 together and see what happens.

I will also report if the stoppa granules are effective on their own after tonight when I go out with a torch. I kid you not, I have been finding huge grey slugs this year. Absolutely massive. Hope they are not the Spanish giants

I went out later and found one small slug that had crossed. The kale had been stripped this morning but the carrots had been left 2 nights running. I would say it has been pretty successful but you have to use a lot to good effect. Good for keeping off the larger slugs but the very small ones seem to sneak through the gaps. I will also put some beer traps out. I have never seem so many slugs and snails this year !
