i have some broccoli that i picked the middle off head about 3 inches round it was  to make the side ones come bigger,my mother inlaw did not take off the bigger heads while we were on holiday now it seems to have gone to seed :(we cut the seed bits off but its back again.is that it for these plants now

Do it anyway, as we had the same on a couple, and they've produced marvellous shoots!

Remember they are greedy plants, so a handful of chicken pellets and plenty of water will help those side shoots grow
