I'm beginning to feel as though i should be stopping  these triffids. Do you stop/pinch out growing tips of yours?
Liv.

I agree mumofstig  mine are just half way up and that's only been in the last week !! wish mine were like triffids the runners are only a little bit higher and the Kenya beans well don't even go there I think I was picking them this time last year
some people are like slinkys......they're really good for nothing, but they still bring a smile to your face as you push them down the stairs!!

I stopped mine two weeks ago and now they are bushing out nicely, already had a few boilings of young beans... :D :D
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

Starry, it certainly is very beautiful. We are very lucky.

I should confess my french beans are in my polytunnel, thats why they are like triffids, (but if you mention PT or GH a mod moves you off to the very dull and lifeless PT and GH forum)

I think i'll pinch them out tomorrow.

Thanks.

but it's read & replied to by the same people that read & replied to it here, so I don't understand why you would describe it as dull and lifeless

It's a fairly new Board so doesn't have as many pages yet, that's all  ;)

I must admit i agree with LivvyW on this, if it gets moved it doesn't get answered very quickly and as it's part of grow your own i don't see why this board was made unless just to add a bit of diversity to an already fab well structured site!

The first board i go to is Grow Your Own and that can take anything from 10 mins to a few hours to get through depending on how long i've been away from the site then i have a look at that board second, then all unread posts aftert that.

Just my Opinion.

but for others who come on here and just want to know about growing in poly tunnels or greenhouses then finding such posts is easier if you go to that section rather than trawling through hundreds of posts that have nothing to do with PT's of GH's  :).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Point taken.

But you've got at least one member already saying they don't post fully/accurately to avoid their post going on there, so i still stick with my first thoughts on this.  ;)

P.S. sorry for going off topic.

I've stopped mine at about 6 feet high to let them concentrate on growing beans and have sowed more Cobra seed in modules to replace them and give a later crop.

I usually pinch mine out at 12" ish and let the 2 new runners get to the top of the cane then stop them there.

I find this gives me a bushier plant and a better crop.

So far I have never pinched out the tops of beans... FC or otherwise.

Mine are were knee height last time I looked. My dad's are 6'+ so I've wound the tops back down again  ::)

I agree with Learner -- let 'em grow --- and always have plenty of beans  :D

and I read the greenhouse & polytunnel bit and I don't think it is boring or lifeless at all. Just my opinion
