As promised in my Hen House posting - can she be a proper mum? - here are some photos of Patches and her 3 chicks...

This one at 3 days, the first time I got all my "ducks in a row"   :lol:

She was listed as a Splash Jersey Giant but I've only managed to find info about them in 3 colours - black, white & blue. Perhaps someone who knows more about JGs can enlighten me...

Her mate was HUGE!!!

To get the blue colouring, you need to cross the splash and black to get 100% blue offspring.  Here are the statistics:

Blue X Blue = 50% Blue, 25% Black, 25% Splash
Blue X Black  = 50% Blue, 50% Black
Blue X Splash = 50% Blue, 50% Splash

Black X Black  = 100% Black
Splash X Splash = 100% Splash
Splash X Black = 100% Blue
