Thanks, MoreWhisky, I like Sylvia too.  She has a lovely bold personality and will stick up for the other chickens if she thinks I'm bothering them, by stepping in between me and them and shouting at me!

She got off to a bit of a rough start with a respiratory infection, and I had to catch her twice a day and bring her inside, then pry her beak open and put a pill down her throat.  I thought that might make her timid and scared of people but it just made her more bold.

The infection also damaged her vocal chords so she has a voice like a heavy smoker.  Very loud and very husky.  There's no ignoring Sylvia when she's grumpy with you.   

If Sylvia was a person I think she would be a barmaid.  Loud and bold and very sociable, and won't stand nonsense from anyone.  (And I think she would use a vocabulary that would make me blush.)
