Hi All

ive just spotted a few gnat larvae worms on the top of one of my bags of spuds.

What do I do? Are they harmless or should I be destroying the compost and the plant?

If they really are fungus gnat larvae - they do like potatoes, rottening ones especially - you can get nematodes or mites to fight them off. I do not know, how worthwile, financially, this would be...

Oh, sorry! Trying to dry the compost out would surely be much cheaper. How much it helps without killing the plant as well, will depend on the scale of infestation. Surely some will die sooner than your plant and can try to catch adult flies on sticky cards.
