peas. when are they ready
« on: June 29, 2011, 17:17 »
 Hi Guys,

I read that the more you pick your peas the more you get, and to pick vey young ones to encourage growth.  My question is how do we know when they are ready to pick and can all young peas be cooked in their pods, like mange tout?

many thanks for your help.

Jools

Your standard pea pod is more stringy and starchy than a mangetout, I personally wouldn't recommend eating the whole pod.

Pick them when you can feel some weight in the pod and there's not much "give" in it.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?
