What time do they lay?
« on: June 27, 2011, 08:24 »
My Speckledy has started to lay, but seems to be waiting till mid morning, say, 10am, to do it.  I was under the impression this would be done first thing in the morning, like before breakfast?
Will it get earlier with time?
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

It will roll through the day time wise.  I believe they lay on a 23 hour rotation so you end up with eggs at different times!  Thats what happens with my chickens anyway!

My Barnevelder has just started laying.  She has laid three eggs so far, all between 2:30pm and 3pm.

Mine are always somewhere around lunch time - between 11 and 2.30, couldn't say an exact time as I work mornings!!
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

Mine started laying around lunchtime but they have all now laid by 10 am. Still got two which aren't laying yet though so maybe they will be the same.
One husband, three teenage sons, one completely blonde dog, two scatty cats, five nutty chooks and an uninvited mole!

Rotates on about a 26 hour cycle, so tend to get an egg for three days and misses a day as never lays past 4pm, then back to an early morning lay.
