Hi

Could any of you wonderful minds of information and experience tell me if mice will harm/eat baby chicks? 

I have a hen sitting (in an enclosed area especially made for her and her chicks) but everytime I go in the hen house there are one or two mice shooting out of her box.  I am just a little worried that they may be harmful to any chicks that she may have.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Is there anywhere you can put a mouse trap bated with chocolate, peanut butter or chocolate spread that is near to your broody but safely out of reach?

I don't think a mouse would take on a chick, and hopefully the hen would defend them anyway if she saw the mouse was a threat.
I'd be more worried about infection being introduced via food. I think even if you put a trap nearby, preferably on their 'run' to the broody box you might catch a few that way.
Could you temporarily swap your areas about - your other hens would try and catch the mice if they saw them - well at least mine would!
Sorry can't think of any other ways unless you could borrow a cat for a few days?
