One a day
« on: September 10, 2007, 21:41 »
Since my 4 chooks arrived (last Friday afternoon) there has been 1 small egg since Saturday  :)
First one was a speckled brown one, yesterday a brown only and today a brown one.
Am I just being impatient (I do love my eggs) or do they need more time to settle in ?
They are feeding out of our hands and follow me and my son round thier big pen.
There are 2 speckeldys Dora and Doris and 2 black rocks, Babs and Folly.
Must admit Im looking forward to getting some more chooks already but would like a couple of bluebells - shall have to wait til pay day though
Live every day as your last - enjoy life and smile.

chickychick i got my chooks from a breeder in legsby nr market rasen.
Theres poultrymad near louth - someone told me they are in yarburgh.
Im going to get some more chooks though cos im wondering if these are bantams - awe dont laugh munty - i did ask for chickens and not banties.
No im not taking em back - the girls and us have bonded already.
Today one soft egg - there is a tray of grit and oyster shell for them so hope that sorts it out.

hey thats nothing thinking bantams are chickens etc I am wondering if my favourite big white amberlink chicken is a boy!!! no flippin eggs if she erm he is... does anyone know how soon they woudl be crowing so I could find out if its a boy? otherwise how can I tell.

I suspect its a boy cause it makes such funny noises when I approach unlike the others and it seems bigger and a bit more developed in the comb and that dangly skin under the chin, also brave and inquisitive and always first to do everything.

lovely bird but dont know what I will do if it is a boy this is supposed to be a sensible egg production project ulp!
It is supposed to be about 21 weeks old
