It looks like something I see now and again. A cluster of flowers which don't separate or maybe fuse together, I haven't looked into the mechanism. I've only had it with Marmande.

Some varieties have some flower buds like that.  Just ignore them.

The beefsteak tomatoes do have flowers like that, but if it a small fruiting variety I would pick the strange flower off, as it make a distorted shaped tomato

You say that in jest ... I have a colleague who has just realised that not all her lettuces and tomatoes are not in fact lettuces and tomatoes ... yes, they're dahlias!
