Hi Kirstie,  sorry to hear you're having problems, we use the spray method, if at first it doesn't deter the cats, try one with a stronger spray, if you stick at it I'm sure it will work eventually.  We use it to deter our hens when we have BBQ's as they like to join us, we just give a gentle squirt just in front of them.  They know the drill now and when the green spray bottle is out they know to keep their distance!  They do get treats for being good though.
Good luck

I'm sure I've seen a rubber spiky thing you put on top of fences, might have been Betterware or similar, not nasty, just uncomfortable to land on.  Water pistols are good too.

Like Joyfull our poot chicks are tiny but when the neighbours cats venture in, they last about 10 seconds before they're descended on by our large hens and a very protective Star.

They are fine unless you have kids as they use soundwaves which scare both cats and kids! The older you get the more frequencies you can't here!

Can't you get those sonic devices which cats hate? They are a bit pricey, admittedly, but they do seem to keep the cats away if you place them in strategic positions. I think B&Q sell them - or any garden centre for that matter.

I think that the sonic devices may well prove to be excellent however as said earlier they can be awful for children and teenagers. A few years ago my young teenage children complained and complained that our family computer was making a terrible sound. Neither my husband or I could hear the sound and totally poo pooed them. Eventually we mentioned our moaning children's problem to our 'computer guy' and he said Oh yes ,came along, changed something and the sound disappeared.

I would suggest putting spikes on the top of your fencing. Just type in pigeon deterrent into google and thee is loads of laces selling them. You seen them in towns on window sills, clocks etc to stop pigeons landing on them. They are steel spikes but are not sharp so will not harm the cat but will certainly put it off.

I think it is extremely difficult for someone to restrict a cat. I believe the law (but I'm not a lawyer) views cats as wild animals and dogs as domestic, so if you dog runs out in front of a car and causes an accident someone can claim on your household insurance but I believe it is not the same wit ha cat causing an accident.

I hope you get your problem sorted out. I would encourage you to talk to your neighbour calmly and don't let your emotions get the better of you. Keep to the moral high ground.

Well I think then you must be carefully to buy a quality unit as I know from experience some of them can be herd by kids. Do you have any brands or models you could suggest aunt s?

Aunt Sally mentioned the CatWatch, which can be found HERE among other places.

In no way was i suggesting that violence was to be used, i would have thought that the tone and use of a winking smiley would have made it quite obvious that the comment was very much tongue in cheek.

I had taken the topic serious and tried to make  serious suggestions in the post above. Surely there is space for sensible and tongue in cheek posts in this forum?

Bit of a over the top reaction there i do feel :(
