Rust on garlic - any ideas on its impact on storage life?

I'm sure this will have been asked before, but can't find any threads by searching. Anyway, apologies in advance for asking this if you've covered this before:

I planted two lots of garlic, some in autumn and some started off in January in modules before planting out. The autumn-planted lot have put up their flower heads (scapes). I've removed them and am due to harvest around 2 July. Unfortunately for the garlic, but fortunately for lots of other things, we've had some heavy rains over the last couple of weeks and the garlic has developed rust. I'm not sure what impact this will have on storing the garlic or if there's any remedy I can use. I had thought about dusting with copper sulphate powder, the usual remedy used for any fungal problem round these parts, but am a bit unsure seeing as I'll be harvesting in just a couple of weeks or so.

Thanks DD. I did do a search and not a single hit came up. Which is why I was so apologetic about asking because I knew I'd seen threads posted on garlic rust before. Very odd but glad to have the info. So thanks again.
