dust baths in tyres?
« on: June 10, 2011, 19:03 »
Hi all,
I have moved my 3 ladies into their late Spring/Summer accommodation (9ftX9ft of gravel on a sand/subsoil hardcore base) to save my veg and fruit crops, not to mention lawn. I know they are fine really (even leaving aside the pitiful faces staring at the raised beds and squawking), but I do wonder about their dust baths now they can't get to the big pit they dug under my fruit bushes. I have posession of some large tyres, and I want to fill them for dust baths, any ideas on a good mix? A few weeks in to the pen/prison they have dug good bowls for themselves of the sand/subsoil, but I don't know if this is enough? No sign of mites or owt. Does anyone else do the tyre thing?

if anybody wants any old lorry tyres to use for this idea then we have some you can have free (so long as you can collect from Lincolnshire  :D)
Staffies are softer than you think.
