I've let a few pak choi (not F1) flower and was wondering if the seed is viable THIS year if I let some self-sow?
Otherwise I'll collect it all and use it next year.

Real Seeds' website has good info on saving your own seed. I like their comment (more of a seed grower than a cook?!!) "Let the really good plants go to seed and eat the rubbish ones" !!

Doesn't say whether you can sow straight away although it does say it's an all year crop and I have sown in September before and it's gone through the winter.
Think I'll give it a go but I'd better collect the seed because (if I remember correctly)brassica seed pods explode when ripe and I'll get pak choi EVERYWHERE!!
The seed was Green boy from Real Seeds and it was brilliant! Should've thought to look on their site.....doh!

Saving your own seed is a great idea. I’ll be saving some carrot seed this year as the variety in question a non f1 was incredibly cold resistant last winter with no protection at all. And as for the taste……Yum!
