I was going to start a post titled 'Which veg needs netting?', obviously now I don't need to.  This week I've been to our plot and planted out Autumn Spear broccoli and some turnips.  After reading this lot, I'm scared to go down there after tenderly rearing this lot from seed.  I have quite a lot of cabbage and PSB still in my house which is almost ready to plant out.

Looks like I'm going to have to get busy making a frame and buying some nets, thanks for starting this thread though  ;)

Definately worse this year, pigeons seem to haved moved from agricultural crops earlier, nested and had their young earlier, and moved to garden crops. Warm April moved things along early, and we are paying the price now. I do a bit of pigeon shooting for farmers, but cant shoot on allotments, they are classed as public places. So its net, net and net again!!!
