:D :D

I did this the first year I had my Lottie, I had never grown B/Beans and did not have a clue how many to plant . So given that I sowed them in March when there was nothing on the plot and had plenty of space, I sowed 95 plants .

By harvest time we had B/Bs coming out of our ears and and chest freezer full to the brim of blanched B/Bs. I didn;t grow any after that for two years and its only this year that I have ventured back into the world of B/B land, but with only ten plants.

They're my favourite veg.
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

They're my favourite veg.

They can also be much earlier than runners and french beans. There are several ways to cook/prepare them and, picked smallish, they are lovely.  ;)

We don't like B/B's
I would rather grow more peas under a cloche and wait a few more weeks than have them.
Even when taken early they seem tough to me, and i really don't have enough time to peel them.  ::)

So we don't grow them

I put some in last year because I hadn't had them before.  I won't be growing them again though.  Can't be bothered with the all the podding and peeling and don't especially like them once I get into them anyway.

I think the reason most people grow them is because they are one of the earliest crops from th new growing season so people look forward to them. (not me though)

Peas are much nicer and only a few weeks later if you start them in the greenhouse in guttering or paper pots, then plant out under a cloche.

i'm a huge fan of broad beans. I think one of the things I have found is that picking them young and small gives you a lower yield, but with higher deliciousness.

I can take them or leave them really, but I do grow them every year because, well, they always grow so tall and healthy and crop so well - that way I always have at least one success on the plot  :)

And the MIL loves them so it keeps her happy  :tongue2:

One of our favourite vegs  :)

I've only got about 80 plants in this year, and think I might not have enough.

Easy to grow. Lovely taste. What's not to like  :D
Cheers, Comfortably Numb.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long ..........................

I love 'em too! Wish mine would pod though.  This year the bees have drilled in through the back of the flowers and not pollinated much.  Grr! broad beans are grreat!
