Soft shell egg
« on: June 06, 2011, 21:56 »
oh its all going on at the mo, I have 1 poorly chicken who is quiet, sitting and not eating.

The other two girls seemed fine but when i went out one of them had laid a soft shell egg. There has been shell-less eggs in the coop in the mornings for the last week. I only found the soft egg when i was putting them to bed and it was outside in the garden and they were eating it!

Any help really appreciated

eating a soft shelled egg is perfectly natural - it is a source of protein and it removes the evidence so predators dont see it.
Do they have access to crushed oyster shells?
Staffies are softer than you think.
