Muck midden ash - can I use it?
« on: June 02, 2011, 22:03 »
We have ponies stabled in the winter and so have a lot of horse muck, straw and shaving on the midden. During the dry spell in Spring I set it alight to reduce it. It reduced it to about half, the very rotted stuff was too wet to burn and so I am left with a lot of ash and some rotted manure.
The question is - will it be good for the garden? How long should I leave it? It is from around September through to April, some ash, some not. It is very fine and light and looks like it should be good for the garden - but will it?  ???
