woohoo got a Lotty
« on: June 02, 2011, 21:46 »
Three months ago went on the waiting list, was told there's a two year waiting list which i figured wasn't bad considering what some people wait. Then Tuesday got a letter offering me a Lotty, and yesterday picked up my key  :D

Its not in bad state mainly grass and weeds but no brambles (thank god) its right at the top of the hill so no hope of using a wheel barrow (could see it now barrow running off on its own crashing threw the lower Lotty  ) have a nice 8ft brick wall along the top and a lovely view gets plenty of sun as i found out today, digging for 3 hours and im a lobster  ::)

The other people told me that this allotment is not very popular because of where it is ie the area but its perfect for me could even walk from home to it. And its very tucked away i didnt even know where it was took me ages to find it  ::)

I am so excited to have my own space  :D

Congratulations on your new lottie,10 year waiting list down here in sunny Poole, although to be fair our local council is stopping people from having more than one plot and all people on the waiting list have had to send off a form saying they still want to be on there so that should get rid of a few more people who no longer want an allotment,so who knows it could be i will join you as an allotment holder in about 9 years!!

Congratulations! It looks like mine did when I got it in Feb this year, good luck with the clearing it is hard work but ultimately very rewarding.

(I'm still working on mine now!)

wow what a lovely spot, I have just put my name down for a lotty (cant grow at home as my chickens free range and ate all that I tried to grow before  ::)). Some of these lotties are really well hidden aren't they - I didn't even know our village had any I just emailed our parish council on the off chance and got told my name is now on the list  :)).
Please do pop photos on - wobbly digging and all it will help other newbies like me  :)
