My cabbages, brussel sprouts and broccoli were coming on so well and then...... the pigeons found a new restaurant and one morning I arrived to find almost bare stalks! This is my first allotment and I now know I should have covered them with netting but we all have to learn and I certainly learnt the hard way! Any hope of them regrowing? The roots are fine and I have trimmed back the bare stalks and covered all the plants with netting - my OH and I spent a happy Bank Holiday weekend  constructing large cages covered with netting but is there any hope or should I start again from scratch or is it too late? I grew them all from seed.

Sorry to hear of your problem. They might if they are not too badly damaged. It might be an idea to leave them in for a while but at the same time grow some more. If they grow back you could just replace the really bad ones.
You could start some purple sprouting broccoli now for spring or calabrese, which matures quickly, and it is time to sow swedes.

As long as they have their middle growth point, they will regrow.
If that's gone then they won't

a few of mine got attacked and they show every sign of recovery. the attack was not a destroy attack which i know is possible.
