help needed...broody bantams!
« on: May 24, 2011, 13:09 »
Hi all, we have 3 pekin bantams and two of thm have gone broody. We have tried everything we can think of, we've ousted them off the nest, we have shut them out of the coop during the day and we've even resorted to the old method of bottom dunking but absolutely nothing will shake the broodiness. What can we do? as there are two of them its pretty tricky.
any advice much appreciated!

Put them in individual dog travelling cages (look on freecycle etc), with grain and water, but no bedding.

If you stand them on bricks so the air can circulate underneath them it will help.  It may still take a week or so to debroody them though ;)

It is something you should be prepared for for the future... Pekins LOVE being broody ;)
