I'm not familiar with the name twitch, does it have another name too?

yes it will  :(

Usual advice is to burn it, soak it in water til it rots or take it to the tip!

I think it's another name for couch

It will - dont compost it direct, burn it, drown it or bag it up and bin it. Evil stuff!

Sometimes called cooch grass

Twitch is East Anglian for couch. Also known as wickens and scutch. Any other local names?

Best way to deal with it is to knock all the soil off it and spread it out on the surface for a couple of weeks to dry and then burn it.

If you only have small quantities then tie it in a plastic bag with plenty of water and forget about it for a month or two.

Municipal composting is hot enough to kill it so you could take it to your local green collection point.

Only ever heard it called couch, sometimes pronounced cooch, in various parts of the country.
