Does anyone know if the thread on the bolt holding the blade on is a reverse thread or normal, the head is plastic and I don't want to put too much force on it without knowing.

Manual is no use and doesn't say.

If anyone is familiar with the item I also need to know what diameter / thread in on the items marked 39/17 here http://www.mtmc.co.uk/product.aspx?ProductID=43035

I dom't have a definative answer to the blade bolt question but I tend to assume that  in the absence of info to the contrary, the retaining bolt/nut  undoes in the same  direction as the  rotation of what it is holding on.
