Hello all

Ive noticed that nearly all the folk on my plot apart from the newbies ( me included ) seem to really jam their plants in close and much closer than what ive read you should do in my books

is this just experiance or am i missing something? or are there things you can do this with?

for instance ive got 8 sprouts in once 2 meter long bed and ive seeen one plot with double this in same space

Way too close, mine go in 30" apart.

thats what i thought but i see this sort of thing all over plots so thought i was just sticking to the guidlines to much

the spacings recommended on packets of seeds are there for a reason, stick to them for highest yeild, any closer/more densly and yeild will be less and the risk of disease etc will be higher (is what i was advised when i started)
