Chillies/Peppers crisis
« on: May 12, 2011, 12:58 »
Please help,  as a first time grower of many things this year, I appear to be having success with the majority of things I have planted.  I am however having a bit of a crisis with chillies and peppers, I have 2 kinds of peppers and 1 kind of chilli, all grown from seed, started in seed trays then potted on and now ready to be transplanted again.. I am experiencing a problem with some of these plants and not all the same kind of plant.  Some of the leaves appear to be shrivelling up, although they are still green and shiny. :(

Does anyone out there no what could be causing this, I am watering them regularly, but have not started to feed them yet, as there are no fruit or flowers appearing.

Please help, I really would like to succeed with these, as living in France, chillies are not readily available and peppers are quite expensive, and not always the best quality!!!!!!

Awaiting responses with baited breath from anyone who can help. ::)

It might well be aphids which you will be able to see to verify, but my experience of chillis is that simple overwatering can cause a lot of problems. I asked my neighbour to look after 4 of my chilli plants for me last year.  After just two weeks he had managed to kill 3 out of 4 by watering them the same as tomatoes. Try treating them mean and watering when they start to wilt a bit, see if they recover.
