My courgettes have been flowering for at least a couple of weeks now, but all they seem to be growing is male flowers. And that's six plants, all with male only flowers - is that sexist or what?

As I said on another thread:

It is quite usual for the males to appear first, the females usually exercise their prerogative to be late.

Ah well, I feel another slapping coming on.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Everything out in the open ground and growing away nicely now.  flowers and fruit.  Probably too big an area for me to protect if we get a surprise frost.  Nothing forecasted though so hopefully OK here on in.

courgettes were out last week, only worry is the cold doesn't hold back their growth. they have grown new shoots but i'm sure they will tick along fine.

marketmore cucumber plants have not done well. planted in early may and  the cold killed off 2 so lesson learnt. grown more so by 2nd week june i am hoping they will grow big enough for the outdoor life.

My squashes are in little pots in the greenhouse at the moment. Should they be okay to plant out or should I grow them a little bit more in the greenhouse in bigger pots?

to be safe if you let them grow at least 4 true leaves and provided its not too cold for spring then they should be fine outside. think the cold hinders their growth but once it warms up they'll grow on.

I planted my sqashes and courgettes out on Monday.
Night time tempratures here in Hull are now between 8 and 11degr's.

Also toms and outdoor cucumbers (marketmore) planted in the new half glazed greenhouse.

Had a bit of rain too lately so weeds are growing well too  :(
