Waste of time and money...
« on: May 11, 2011, 12:02 »
Broad beans, now planted out but flopping all over the place and being nibbled round the edges...

Spring onions, hardly growing at all. Spindly and not even as thick as chives...

Parsnips, very poor germination from fresh F1 seed...

 :(

Not really sure what I'm doing wrong with those above but never mind...

Got good growth on my spuds, strawberries, blackcurrant, raspberries, onions, shallots  and garlic at the plot.

Cucumbers, aubergines, tomatoes, courgettes, and babycorn in the conservatory.

So I hope to have success with at least something  :)

Success with lots of things by the sound of it.

How do you get aubergines to grow? I've never had any luck with them.

Never grown them before, this is my first year so it's a bit of an experiment like everything else really !  ;)

dont know about parsnips.
spring onions takes time from seeds. (the picture ones are grown for a long time)
BB do flop over for a week but they will get straightened up. my neighbour had it all over the place and they are all looking fine. the nibble around edges are due to bean weavil and BBs will outgrow them  :)
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

I suspect the lengthy drought will have affected or delayed germination.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
