Hi, I have got my first broody hen.  I've had my hens for nearly a year now and I think they are about 14 months old.  The broody one is a speckledy.  I haven't got a cockrel so the eggs aren't fertile and I haven't got the space to have any more chooks anyway so how to I cope with the broody?

I have noticed that she is being quite aggressive to the others so I am concerned for them, I think I also caught her mounting one of them this morning which was strange???

Is there anything I have to do or is a case of she will get over it?

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

The first time it happened to us, Joyfull lent me her metal dog cage, we put it in the main run and put the broody in there with basic food and water, and only took her out at night to go to bed.

Luckily we have our own cage now.  It works, but different people have different ideas.  the idea is to give her no treats and make her uncomfortable, which is why the old anti-broody coops, were made of wooden slats all over, so the wind whistled through and stopped them being broody.
