I can't see why.

That said, allergies are very strange things & it might be worth seeking expert help.  Or visit a chicken to "try before you buy" (unless egg allergy is extreme).

It's not my child, it's a new friend who may be coming for tea. I will speak to the parents before they come round, it just got me wondering.

I would think the parents would know if there was any risk.  If in doubt just keep her away from the chooks !

I would guess they are most likely allergic to a protein in eggs, perhaps albumin for example. SO they wouldnt be allowed eggs or foods containing eggs. Exposure to chickens themselves wouldnt expose them to the egg proteins.

I cant see any reason to keep them away from the chickens themselves, but of course check with the parents, who can ask their doctor for guidance.

my 3 year old has an egg allergy, can't eat eat anything containing egg or egg products, we have chickens outside also some week old chicks indoors and he is fine to touch and play with them
