Sexing Chickens

Hi Folkes,

I have just purchased two additional "Hens" at a local show. They are together in a seperate run to our other hens, but are fighting like there is no tomorrow giving rise to the thought one might be a cockerel. One is constantly trying to mount the other! So how do we tell the difference between a cock and a hen?

Any help will be appreciated

Our hens are definately hens rugby, but they do try to mount each other at times. I think its this pecking order thing. They are constantly trying to convince the others that they are king pin!

Also discussions were going on earlier in the year that chickens can change sex, but have yours started crowing yet?

I have got a book on sexing chickens, I'll have a look for it.

ferget the book if needed and just wait the sixteen weeks it takes for the birds to be active and the cocks wil crow . eat surplus cocks or sell them cheap
