If you want to be happy for a short time - get drunk.

If you want to be happy for a long time - fall in love.

If you want to be happy forever - take up gardening!

Until proven otherwise I would say you have been seduced by some slick advertising.  Not on my Christmas list.

The dandelions he pulls up from his lawn are of a reasonable size. So I reckon you may have to wait more than one season for the pleasure of removing it with the weed puller thingy. Do you really want to grow a weed to that size just to validate owning such a machine that will spend most of its time collecting cobwebs in the shed? Not on my shopping list

Id like to see him try that here ! I couldn't even get a fork in yesterday standing on it.

It also look like it just snaps off the root 2 inches below ground level, you'd do just as well with a large kitchen knife.

I guess it'd be fine if all dandelion / dock roots were straight as a die, perfectly tapered, unbranched, and no longer than the jaws of the tool. Oh, and you used a spirit level to ensure you lined it up perfectly with the root (I might contact the manfacturers to suggest they incorporate one  ).

They could also do one with 3 metre jaws for japanese knotweed  :nowink:

Not on my list either  ;)

I'd like to try one before making any comment, but any garden tool that saves a person from having to bend over, gets a tick in my book.

I agree with Gwiz and add that it looks like a great tool, hopefully not too good to be true.

Anyone no how much they cost?.

£38.99 from Amazon and does seem to be available from a range of large DIY outlets too.

My Wolf weed-grubber (a birthday present!) is useless as a weeder as far as I'm concerned, but I lent it to my neighbour who said it was great for planting industrial quantities of bulbs in his lawn!

(As Lardman says, I can't see how this new tool can not break off tap roots like dandelion, although I suppose you can at least do "half the job" standing up rather than on hands and knees!)

Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
