Dry as a bone down here in what is usually wild, wet West Wales.  Got strong winds today even the chickens would love it to rain to stop the dust storms!
3 dogs now, 2 passed RIP Poppy and Paige, one wonderful husband and a new adventure on this wonderful island

It hasnt raind around here in NE Wales for 7 weeks now...apart from a few drops a week ago, but when we had the few drop here, my mum and dad had a good hour or so of real heavy rain and they only live about 15 mins away  ::).

I`ve all but given up on my new plot this year. Dry as a bone and no rain forecast. There isnt a standpipe there to water anything, and would take me to long to water anything else. I`ll make do with what I`ve got in, which is next to nothing.

Christo, that is so unfair, I'm only up the road from you and we keep missing those showers. My mum lives near Eastbourne and for the last two nights they've had a good soaking, even puddles on the roads - makes me want to weep when I look at my plot now, I'm sure it's sizzling when I water now!

We had sudden heavy rain and lightning late on Friday evening and puddles formed in the streets.

There were a few more spots overnight last night.......but the plot (about a mile away) remains dusty.
My water-barrel is nearly empty.  :(

are you being hit by the drought
Went to the plot yesterday and bit heart breaking to see the state.
bone dry soil either dusty or hard rock. cant dig.
1. lost half of turnips and beetroots.
2. winter onions are bolting
3. direct sown BBs are struggling (strange... I thought)
4. carrots direct sown are looking promising but the ground is cracked.  >:(

The best of them lot are
1. marestails... beautiful and their display of never say die.
2. strawbs... plenty of flowers and fruits.  :)
3. perpetual spinach (sowed this year) are very healthy with 6-8 leaves.

I have to go to plot and water them tonight.
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

I've got a few things in modules / pots which could do with being planted out, but that won't happen until we've had some decent rain to soften the soil properly.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Same story down here in Hull, luckily we have unmetered water on site, which we can hook a hose upto to fill our water butts, which I have eight of at the moment and having to fill them every week, as I,m using so much.
I used to work in a helium gas factory, but I walked out, no one talks to me like that.

No rain = few weeds so I suppose there's something good to say for a dry spell.

We've had just 10% of our normal rainfall down here..... I think I must have blinked when it fell.

went to earth up the potatoes yesterday as warning of frost and I had to water the ground first it was so dry. Even after 10mins of watering I still had to break up the ground with a hoe and then rake up the earth. An hour job took almost three!

As always we are enjoying the dry season here in the tropics  8) I guess we are (in many ways) better off than some of you, I only have to dig about 2 foot down and we hit water, which is I guess why when I pulled some radish up last night they had a tap roots about 8 inches long  ::)
Top oth plot is a beach, but thats normal however around 4 inches down and its still moist. They have promised us some rain tomorrow but it will probably evaporate before it hits the ground.
