Carrots not growing and ants! help

Hello all
Newbie here, I have got an allotment patch and giving growing own veggies a go..

I planted some carrots the end of march and we have only very small shoots coming up still. there seems to be hardlyany growth .. |there also seems to be a lot of ants around and in the carrot patch, didnt notice these when I wa digging and preparing the ground.

Is this normal? do carrots take this long to only get small shoots, and will the ants be causing any problems.

any advise would be gr8 ..

Yes carrots remain very small for a period of time - dont think there is anything to worry about

no idea re ants thoug

The ants will not eat the carrots or anything but the fact that they are there may mean that it is dry. Give the carrots a good watering and the ants may go away. It might even make the carrots grow.

Thank you both, Have been watering twice a day at the moment due to this weather, parts of the pitch do seem very dry still but when digging its moist under the top.

Today there seemed to be much more growth so I was obv worrying over nothing, keep expecting things to grow at the same rate which obv they dont..

my carrots are also taking forever to grow but they will get there in the end

The ants may be going to 'milk' aphids, keep an eye on the plants if you see ants climbing them have a closer inspection.
