What type of Water Holder do you recommend?
« on: April 18, 2011, 20:46 »
I inherited my waterer, and its HUGE - takes up too much space for my 2 girls on their own.

What type do you have and do you recommend it???

This is like a big bell, with a hole in the bottom, and a skirt underneath that holds the water.

Also, I am wanting to start adding apple cider vinegar, so want something plastic (I think??)

Thanks, as always

I have got one that you screw bottles onto, eg a small coke, fanta bottle. I use this for my chicks, it will also take the large soda,  bitter lemon size bottles. It is better if you stand it on a piece of wood as it doesnt get full of shavings etc then. Not sure how well it would do for full grown chickens, i intend to use it along with a bigger one I have bought.

I cut the side out of a 5litre water bottle and lie it on its side. Using these not only recycles but you can change it regularly. I just wedge a ston under it if the ground is uneven.

I use the standard 5 litre plastic ones, simply as I use ACV etc. It is hung up around 6 inches or so off the floor.
