I prepare my broody coop then late in the afternoon I lift the hen up and with my free hand carefully move a few eggs at a time so that she can see everything that is going on. I then place her on the eggs and shut her up until the following day giving her time to settle back down. Be careful when lifting her off the eggs as they often tuck eggs under their wings and legs and this can result in eggs dropping and smashing.
