My soil conditions

Hi. I'm a beginner. My soil goes from somewhat loamy to sandy within 28cm depth.

Will do some tests to see more precisely what soil conditions I have.

Wow, it doesn't look so hot, does it?

Regardless of the pH reading, try to get hold of as much compost as you can and add it. Often lottys have loads of free compost available (ask other lotty members) or local areas have it to either give away or sell. Sandy soil tends to 'eat up' compost quickly so you'll need to add lots yearly. And lots of rotted manure will also help add more tilth and nutrition to the soil. Once your pH tests are back, you can adjust the level if needed, with some horticultural lime.

Carrots and parsnips will thrive in that.

Mine is just like that, and I suspect Jay's is as well. You just have to work with what you've got  ;)
Apply as much organic matter as you can, as often as you can, and feed all through the year. Sowing green manure over winter to protect the soil from heavy rain, adds a lot of fibre to the soil as well :)
Seaweed, or calcified seaweed is good for adding minerals which are easily lost from sand.

I've just got flowers on my mind at the moment to grow in the soil.  Not thought much about growing veggies to date.

It just shows what's on our minds ;)

You should be able to grow anything that wants a free-draining soil then :)
