We are to inherit 8 hens at short notice & only have bird flight with wooden floor for run. What is best to put on flooring for scratching around. The rest of garden chuckies. Thanks for any advice as no idea !!!

wood chippings or hemcore is fine, hay/straw/woodshavings can harbour mites and the dust from them can cause breathing problems in birds.  Not sure what your coop is like but they will need somewhere to roost and a sheltered box to lay in and avoid drafts (hens can soon die if in a drafty house

  thank you. they will have their henhouse but use the enclosed aviary as a run. I didn't like the idea of them on a wooden floor so thanks for advice.
