Egg show advice

Hi, I've just had a booklet sent to me by the local poultry club i'm with and it mentions about an egg show competition and i'd quite like to give it a go, thing is i've never been to any show before and have no idea what kind of qualities their looking for in the eggs could anyone advise me further please, also would i be right in thinking they don't allow hybrid eggs? the pure breeds i have are 2 buff orpingtons, a norffolk grey, a barnevelder and a rhode island red.

they often have 3 on a plate and you need to choose 3 that are uniform in size and colour with no blemishes. make sure they are really fresh as well as sometimes they crack one open to see the colour of the yolk, how high the yolk stands up and the consistency of the white. Your local club could probably explain more including how to present them - on a white paper plate with or without shavings etc. Sometimes there are classes for plates with eggs of different colours.
