Rhubarb
« on: April 06, 2011, 20:22 »
Picked up 3 x 2/3 year old rhubarb crowns (champagne, victoria, red canadian).

Any tips on planting / growing these rhubarbs?

As they are 2/3 years old can I pick from them this year or should I leave it until next year?

When will they crop?

Thanks

I treat all rhubarb the same.

There's planting and aftercare instructions towards the bottom of this screen here

I wouldn't try to harvest this year as it's important that the plant puts its energy into developing its root system and building its strength up.

I don't see any reason why you wouldn't get a crop next year, but I wouldn't crop it heavily until the year after that.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
