Sexing a chick

Will be getting my chicks very soon. Wanted to know how to sex a light sussex x light sussex? Preferably before they crow

Is there any difference at first like there is with the lagbar or will it be down to feather checking asap?

You can try feather sexing, though this is only reliable if the birds have the fast feathering gene (k+)

Light sussex are a bit awkward though, and I was unsure of mine even at 8 weeks... but 10 weeks I know he was a cockerel though (befor he crowed).

And at 24 weeks he made a very nice Sunday lunch

It depends on the cockerel actually. Some start at about 10 weeks, I had a couple last year not start until 28 weeks.

My LD boy was exceedingly tasty
