possible garlic problem?
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:55 »
i planted mine about 3 weeks ago in a bed that had been manured last october
and have planted the same depth as last year and got a good tasty crop.. however i've just noticed that the ground has settled after last nights rain and about a 1/3 to 1/2 inch on some of  the cloves is showing   will this be a problem or should i cover them up with more soil
but they have germinated beautifully
many thanks for the forthcoming answers

I reckon the ground is not settling but the garlic is putting roots down which pushes them a bit above soil (same as onions). I had to gently press in the pushed out ones in november.  :)
One kid is handful. Two kids.... Example for chaos theory. Hats off to my mum who managed three...

You could always earth up around them, this will prevent you possibly damaging the roots by pushing then back down.
