Pot grown potato question
« on: April 04, 2011, 17:20 »
Hi,

I'm on the waiting list for an allotment so this year I'm growing things in pots as practice.  I have a potato question...when do you put another layer of compost on potatoes?  Mine have broken through the soil but do I cover them up immediately they emerge or wait til they are a couple of inches tall?

Thanks :-)

Cathy

you can wait a few days UNLESS frost is forecast, which would kill the foliage off.

So if your nights are still very cold then cover right away  :(
