Weld mesh
« on: March 30, 2011, 17:20 »
Hi

I have read every post nearly on weld mesh but everytime I go to the Hills of Devon page I am none the wiser. I need to order it tonight as I am nearly finished making the run. The run is approx 26 ft x 15 ft. I am not bragging but it doesent look half bad, made by me a woman on my own, with a little help from my friend, also a female lol. Please can someone be very specific about the weldmesh so I can simply go on the Hills site and put my order in please. I get boggled by hole size, roll length etc. Thank you in advance  :)

Hi there. Well done with doing your own run - had to ask my dad to help me & I still haven't managed to finish it!

I used Hills of Devon & they are v.good & reasonably priced. I bought mesh (look in the aviary mesh bit) with holes 1/2 by 1 in, and wire thickness 1.6mm which I think is about the right gauge to keep poultry safe - hope this helps

if you go for their thickest which is 1.6mm and 1/2" x 1" you would have enough with 30 metres (as you need approx 25 mtrs).
They do 36inch wide 1/2" x 1" by 1.6 in 15 mtrs lengths so you would need 2 of these and some battens to secure this width onto with staples  :D. Hope this helps - Oh and wear gloves because when you cut weldmesh with side cutters they prongs hurt  .
Staffies are softer than you think.

Thank you so much. I see where I was going wrong now as I was not looking at the aviary mesh. Thank you going to order right away.  ;)

I love this site - thanks again Joyfull!  I looked on here for the first lot of weld mesh I purchased, then forgot what size/thickness so looked on here again!

I think Hills of Devon should be giving John a commission for how much business they get from this site!
