I've given in to fate when it comes to chickens.
« on: March 29, 2011, 11:03 »
Before i kept chooks i used to dream of my future flock. My dream chicken family were gorgeous, huge fluffy orpingtons and a couple of other typical matronly farmyard birds. They were a friendly bunch that clucked around the garden while laying a few eggs.
I made all my preparations and made a lovely future home for them and then took on 2 silkies and a pilkie.Oh well,i thought, still plenty of room for the others.
Next,my partner found a trio of gold partridge pekins that he just had to have...and as he lets them out most mornings it seemed only fair.
I love them all but was still hankering for some real  ;) chickens.
Unable to locate a breeder nearby i asked one of the mums at school if she knew of anybody...i'm new to the area and it's very rural.
well by the time i arrived at school this morning it was all done and dusted.Another mum of one of the older kids came rushing up to me,delighted and over the moon that i wanted some of the ex bats she'd just rescued???? ???

So tonight i'll be bringing 2 more girls home......not what i ever imagined or really wanted but lovely all the same.Funny the way things go :D

best get another bigger coop for when you do manage to track down some orps or any other bird that needs a new home  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.

All of this is getting way to tempting for me!  I'm in real danger now, and with an empty extra coop just sitting in our garden waiting.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!
