What am I?
« on: March 27, 2011, 17:23 »
This rather striking little lady is a new addition to my flock along with two Rhode Island Reds.  She came from a local place where they have all sorts running around...

Apparently Daddy was a Welsummer but I have no idea what she's been crossed with (her eggs are regular brown in colour)

Any ideas anyone?   Just curious...

Patterdale x Jack Russell in the background - a good chicken guard !  (although partial to layers pellets given half a chance)

She's very similar to some of mine. They are Cream legbar crossed with a black silkie but they lay blue/ green eggs.

Sorry I can't add any knowledge about breeds - but what a lovely sheen she has!  A gorgeous bird.

She looks almost identical to 1 of my rhode rocks (RIRs x Plymouth rock) who has the same sheen & lays brown eggs

if she is larger than your average hen, she may be a jersey giant cross - she looks exactly like our girls and boy.

same beetle green sheen, red comb and wattles. they lay a lighter brown/golden egg compared to our brahmas and speckled sussex's although that might be irrelavent due to being crossed with darker egg laying welsummers.

just a thought :)
