What to do with Chicken Poo?
« on: March 25, 2011, 11:46 »
I've just acquired "3 sacks of the finest chicken poo, with hemp bedding mixed in, so great for your compost heap or vegetables" from Freecycle.

Isn't it amazing what people can get excited about?

But what's best to do with it - should I compost it, spread it, dig it into trenhes, or - what? What crops / plots will benefit most from it? Would appreciate your thoughts  ;)

Compost it, way tooooo hot for spreading, I normally give mine a full 12 months.

It is meant to be a good compost activator - ie it speeds up the composting of other things if spread in thin layers between other stuff. Helps the heap heat up.
